

This group belonged to Junior Sergeant Fyodor Maksimovich Voropayev, Commander of Communications Platoon, Rifle Battalion, 194th Tashinskii, Red Banner Rifle Regiment, 162nd Central-Asian, Novgorodskii-Sverskii, Red Banner Rifle Division. He joined the Red Army shortly before his 20th birthday, and was sent immediately to the Front- directly into the Battle of Kursk!

...During the period of March 15 to March 20, 1944, during a breach of the enemy's line of defense near the village of Rudyaevo, and the farm Voinitsa, Comrade Voropayev was ahead of the ranks of riflemen, installing the communications line between the battalion headquarters and the regimental headquarters. While installing this line, he single-handedly breeched the enemy trenches, and coming across a group of Germans, exterminated five of Hitler's soldiers...

July 16,1944 during the breach of the enemy’s defence near the village of
Pidbatinv, comrade Voropayev and his detachment were in the ranks of the rifle
battalion. He correctly positioned his soldiers and explained their task to each
of them. During the battle he provided regular communication between commanders
and repaired line damages, thus helping to quickly and correctly
carry out the combat task...
For
his medal 'For Valor':
...In
the battles for the socialist Motherland against German-fascist invaders he
demonstrated bravery, courage and
heroism. Numerous times under strong mortar
and machine-gun fire he re-mounted communication line between the Battalion
Commander and section commanders. While installing the
communication line, he exterminated 2 German soldiers with his carbine...
For
his Great Patriotic War Second Class:
...On
August 9, 1944 during the attack near the height 2686, he demonstrated bravery
and courage. Under the enemy’s strong artillery fire, he repaired 19 damaged
sections of a telephone line, thus providing
a regular communication between the commander of the rifle battalion and
the commander of the rifle company. It helped to successfully fulfill the combat
task.
